Art and Exercise

Developed by Juliu Horvath, a former ballet dancer, the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®  has similarities to the practice of tai chi, yoga, dance z-JuliuHorvathand swimming. The unique design of the equipment allows the body to move through its full range of motion while eliminating  the stresses often experienced with traditional exercise equipment.  This differs from most other exercise methods that perhaps develop strength but at the expense of flexibility or functionality.  GYROKINESIS® (more here) is the equivalent form of exercise performed utilizing a stool and mat.

The characteristic circular and spiral movements of GYROTONIC® exercises incorporate a coordinated breathing pattern that stimulates the various organs and systems throughout the body. While simultaneously stretching and strengthening muscles and the supporting tissues surrounding the joints, the increased functionality results in an integrated whole that is stronger, more flexible and balanced. The benefit of whole body functional integration.

Clients have reported feeling taller, stronger, postural improvements, increased spatial awareness, and a decreased incidence of low-back pain and injuries.

The GYROTONIC® corporate website features some videos and I have also compiled a link to some YouTube videos you might find interesting that demonstrate the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® in motion.
